What motivates you as a writer?

Seeing the stories in my head come alive on the page - to create worlds from a single idea, oh that is what it is to be a writer!

What types of books do you like to read?

Give me a good story and I'm all in. My tastes usually fall to anything speculative or young adult. Young adults have such promise and their story is just beginning.

How has becoming a writer affected your own reading habits?

I search for characters wherever I go! Once while passing a funeral home, I spied a name, Abbot Haggard. Immediately, a wiry, cruel, gray-haired man sprang forth. I ended up writing a whole book about him with him as the antagonist!

PUBLISHER: Anaiah Press, 2015

After the sudden death of her parents, making it through the day is a struggle for Amber. In the midst of her grief, an exquisite bird perches on her garden fence and shows her visions of a vivid landscape and a dark lord slouching upon a throne. She thinks the visions are tied to her sorrow. But when a boy appears to tell her she’s the last of her kind, she wonders if she’s just lost her mind.

PRAISE FOR

THE LAST STORED

"From the very first words, I was wrapped up in the cleverly descriptive fashion that this story is told. With each passing chapter, alternate perspectives created an environment that enabled me to feel as though I was part of the story. The story itself smacks of familiar tones of good versus evil but with twists and turns that rely on the character's interactions with each other on many different levels.

Love, pain, hope, fear, life, and death are intertwined in a thrilling dance of what inevitably becomes true focus and closure to the idea that if you have faith, no matter how much self-doubt may eat away at you, you will be victorious. Combined with colorful and thickly described surroundings and happenings, the characters of Amber and Cree succeed in weaving a story that defines their unwavering connection to each other and sweeps you into their world enveloping you as a participant of their fight to be free their world of evil.

Sonia Poynter's The Last Stored was a book I couldn't put down, this is fantastic storytelling. Swaro!"

- ASBERY

"I was eager to read this new release, and enjoyed it very much. Poetic and humorously blunt in fitting turn, Sonia Poynter populates a rich world with deep and diverse characters. Drawing on classic fantasy elements, she weaves a story new and at times, breathtaking. Looking forward to reading what's next for Cree and Amber..."
