Jessica is consistently drawn to:

  • adventure and survival stories (of any readership) 

  • historical fiction that resonates with the present

  • fiction with literary elements (especially atmospheric nature or science elements, as well)

  • women's fiction

  • adult thrillers and suspense

  • nonfiction PBs (for fiction, it needs to have an emotional depth or relevance to 

  • Nonfiction: survival or journey memoirs, running (or other discipline-focused) devotionals, and something with a contemporary "victory garden"

  • Stories that convey subtle wisdoms that teach something or leaves her perspective forever altered

  • Well-rounded characters with moral ambiguity 

  • Fantasies that are based on non-Western-European lore

  • Wordless picture books

For kidlit, Sabrina wants something that can be enjoyed by adults, as well. This could be via a relevant and profound realization, a vital reminder of what is important, something uplifting or inspiring in a realistic way, or simply by being funny!
