What motivates you as a writer?

I love writing stories that explore issues such as identity, spirituality, and love through the lens of fantastic worlds. Fantasy and magic can help us see past our own narrow viewpoints and envision the world in new ways. I want readers to connect with my stories on an emotional level and be taken on adventures that challenge them to think about their own perceptions.

What types of books do you like to read?

My favorite books pull me in, grip me emotionally, and keep me thinking about them long after I've finished reading them. I adore lyrical writing, unforgettable characters, and fast-paced plots. Some of my favorite authors are Laini Taylor, Maggie Stiefvater, and Laura Weymouth.

How has becoming a writer affected your own reading habits?

I have become much pickier about what I read in the past few years. I try to read a wide variety of books, but I read slowly and often think about what works and doesn't work for me in a scene or a story. I love it when a book pulls me in so completely that I forget to analyze it and have to read it again to figure out why I loved it so much.
